Giger Garrity Murder Investigation, 2005.13.17-20
Ray Doty was the uniformed patrolman featured in 2005.13.17 and .19. The murder occurred at Purviance Independent Service at 711 East Broadway on Tuesday, March 3, 1959. Phil Henry Giger admitted to shooting Daniel Edmund Garrity, but was found innocent by self defense. Doty saved original articles from the Missoulian; these were photocopied for files. The male suspect in 2005.13.20 is probably Giger, shown in a Missoulian photograph sitting in the backseat of a police vehicle as dirty as the Del Ray.
