Notes |
Chris Autio was born and raised in Missoula, Montana where he continues to live and work, running a photography studio. Autio works with black and white film, shooting with a medium format camera to accomplish his work. As an artist, "he aims for images that will work in black and white, but he can choose to add color later if he likes. Sometimes he uses software to experiment with color schemes before applying it to the actual print, with oil stick or his fingers or cotton balls, or with watercolor pencil." Autio has had numerous solo and group exhibitions across Montana, Arizona, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. His work is housed in several public and private collections. Autio has also created six educational films that feature subjects from around the world, including one on the 50th Year Celebration of the Archie Bray Foundation. He is represented in Missoula by Montana Art and Framing Gallery. |
