Notes |
Richard Buswell is a fourth-generation Montanan and Helena native. He is a self-taught photographer who has had over 36 solo museum exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions across the country. Buswell is a determined photographer who "makes decisions according to the long view, with considerable investment. If the shot he wants does not present itself, he is not dissuaded. He will return to the same site next year, or the following decade. He is patient and observant, a characteristic result of his medical training that inevitably spills over into his artistic practice." The Montana Museum of Art and Culture circulated a national tour of Buswell's photography in 2009. His photography is included in collections at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Boston, Massachusetts, the Library of Congress, Washington, DC; Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Connecticut; Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado; and the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, Washington. |
