Notes |
Terry Karson had a long and productive career in Montana working as an arts administrator, professor, curator and studio artist. His work was included in dozens of solo and group exhibitions, including a major solo installation at the Missoula Art Museum. His most significant works were collected at the MAM and the Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, Montana. Karson wrote: "I make art. I like art that is enigmatic. I like art that makes me wonder. I like art that makes me wonder." Towards the end of Karson's life, during a brief battle with cancer, he was concerned with helping struggling artists, like himself, to be recognized and appreciated for the work that is their passion. Proceeds from the sale of his own and collected works in his estate resulted in a memorial acquisition fund at MAM dedicated to purchasing works by Montana contemporary artists.
