Statement about this object |
This cloth was made in Milwaukee, WI. According to the maker, the quab nyug design symbolizes beginnings. In the Hmong language, tuck and fold applique is called "chev." Bounthavy (Vee) Kiatoukaysy translated nyug as cow and identified the worm pattern in the right-angle step shapes. She said that the square flower cloth is typical of the embroidery that made in the refugee camps after the war with the intent to sell. |
