Statement about this object |
According to Bounthavy (Vee) Kiatoukaysy, the square flower cloth is typical of the embroidery made in the refugee camps after the war with the intent to sell. The new square style is well suited to the prominent worm motif, which is a traditional and distinctly Hmong pattern. Blia Lee identified the plawv ("heart") design in the center. The Hmong term for the tuck-and-fold applique process is "chev." |
