Statement about this object |
"This painting, to my knowledge, is the only remainder of a series of large works done by Ms. Rosenstein during her time as a graduate student at the University of Montana, where she earned her MFA degree. In a moment or rather a period of decision making, Kerri ripped the remaining paintngs into strips and tied them into large balls of canvas, creating elements for a sort of multipleoption sculptural installation with infinite presentation possibilities. I had (very fortunately) purchased this work prior to that transformation of form. "Each painting was exquisite, elegant, infinite in its beauty, in my opinion. "As a mark of genius, sensitivity and bravery, Kerri let go of these works and allowed/guided them to literally transition from illusionistic space to real space. "Through no foresight of my own, I luckily was able to preserve an example of these, in my estimation, ethereal and evershifting examples of one of the most beautiful series of paintings I have ever directly observed." - Retired UM Art Professor and donor, David James, March 2013 |
